Annals of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics (AISM) aims to provide a forum for open communication among statisticians, and to contribute to the advancement of statistics as a science to enable humans to handle information in order to cope with uncertainties. It publishes high-quality papers that shed new light on the theoretical, computational and/or methodological aspects of statistical science. Emphasis is placed on (a) development of new methodologies motivated by real data, (b) development of unifying theories, and (c) analysis and improvement of existing methodologies and theories.

統計數學研究所年報旨在為統計學家之間的公開交流提供一個論壇，并為推動統計學作為一門科學的發展作出貢獻，使人類能夠處理信息，以應對不確定性。它發表高質量的論文，為統計科學的理論、計算和/或方法方面帶來新的啟發。重點放在(a)發展以實際數據為動力的新方法，(b)發展統一的理論，和(c)分析和改進現有的方法和理論。
